Alloway Railway Tunnel ART Project

TAC committee member Bill McKinlay is a Trustee/volunteer for the Alloway Railway Tunnel ART project. This is now registered as a charity in Scotland and the project is to create one of Scotland’s largest murals through the Alloway Railway Tunnel. It’s a really ambitious and innovative transformation project to be involved in and Bill wanted to share with you what it’s all about.

It involves transforming an old, dilapidated tunnel that has been defaced with graffiti into a safe, inspiring place, with a beautiful hand painted mural by one of the UK’s top muralists and visionaries, Chris Rutterford.

Chris is an enthusiastically-bearded Scottish mural painter and draughtsman based in Edinburgh.

It’s a community project and aims to involve as many people as possible either in the works associated with the preparation for the mural, helping to paint the mural, fundraising, marketing, social media and many other related activities.

How you can help

This week a Crowdfunder Campaign has been launched to help raise at least £5000 towards much needed funds for the project. Here is a link to the Crowdfunding page where you can find out more about it. Please watch the 3-minute video made by muralist, Chris Rutterford, explaining the vision; it is inspirational!
