Painting in the Summer Sun

The world of plein air art was brought to life as talented artists showcased their creativity and skill in Troon Art Clubs annual Plein Air Competition. The event, held in the picturesque landscapes of Fullarton Woods drew a diverse array of participants who sought to capture the beauty of nature on canvas and paper. After careful consideration and expert evaluation, our esteemed Judge local artist Diane Gardner reached her decision, selecting the winners who have truly excelled in this celebration of outdoor artistry.

The artists spent Saturday 24 June in the summer sunshine immersing themselves in the beautiful landscapes, working tirelessly to translate the ambiance, colours, and essence of their surroundings onto canvas and paper. The result was a breathtaking display of talent and ingenuity, truly a feast for the eyes.

We proudly announce the winners of the Troon Art Club Plein Air Competition:

First Place: Ian Leyden

Second Place: Karina Oakes

Third Place: Fiona Acamovic

In addition to the top three winners from the club, one other artist from another club was awarded a prize, this was Andy Griffith.

The Plein Air Competition not only recognized the exceptional talents of these artists but also celebrated the enduring spirit of outdoor art. The event offered art enthusiasts and nature lovers an opportunity to witness the fusion of creativity and nature, reminding us of the profound connection between humanity and the environment.
